Wendy King is a long time Laramie resident and board certified in family practice and family psychiatric mental health. Originally from Louisiana, Wendy moved to Laramie in 1997 to attend the University of Wyoming for her masters degree in nursing and focus as a family nurse practitioner. She fell in love with the town and her new husband and raised 3 wonderful children. She returned to the University of Wyoming in 2010 to obtain a post masters as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She comes to our practice with years of experience in her area of specialty. In her limited spare time she enjoys cooking and watching LSU football. She is active in the community in the Zonta Club of Laramie and City of Laramie boards.
Peggy J. Harris moved to Laramie in 2002 and fell in love with the area, staying for several years. Peggy returned in 2013 with her family and completed her Master's of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain College of Nursing. She is passionate about the nursing profession and providing quality care to her patients. In her spare time, Peggy enjoys reading, running, nordic skiing, playing guitar, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sophia is a chocolate lab and is a certified therapy dog. She was born in May of 2017 and has been a wonderful companion to Wendy since joining the family as a puppy. She snores, begs mercilessly for treats and pets, and will greet you upon your arrival in the morning office hours. Her special gift is spreading her gentle and endless love to you while you are here.
Our nurse practitioners strive to provide high quality, comprehensive health care services to clients of all ages. Some health conditions do require monitoring in collaboration with a specialist. If this occurs, we consult with physicians and other health care providers as is most appropriate to ensure that the client received the best available care.
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has advanced education and clinical training in a health care specialty area. Nurse practitioners are primary care providers who practice independently in ambulatory, acute, and long term settings. According to their practice specialty, these providers provide healthcare services to individuals, families, and groups of all ages. In addition to diagnosing and managing acute episodic and chronic illnesses, nurse practitioners emphasize health promotion and disease prevention. Services include, but not limited to, ordering, conduction, supervising, and interpreting diagnostic an laboratory tests, and prescription of pharmacological agents and non pharmacological therapies. Nurse practitioners are independently licenses and practice autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers. Research has shown that nurse practitioners provide high quality care, cost-effective care, a unique approach to health care, and care that results in a high level of patient satisfaction.
